Résumé

Air curtains are widely diffused in industrial buildings mainly in order to reduce air leakage through openings in rooms and process equipment areas. They can also be succesfully employed to limit the diffusion of noxious gases complyng with fire protection systems.
The most diffuse air curtains type is the damper one based on the damping effect of air jets that are supplied into the opening area e.
In the present paper is investigated a new type of nozzle air curtain in order to evaluate its effectiveness in containing pollutant sources in confined spaces and to measure the overall reduction of heat loss.
A numerical approach based on 3D CFD code (Fluent 3.2) has been used in order to obtain a good design tool, using an experimental device and the tracer gas tecnique to validate the CFD simulation results.
