Résumé

Effects of spatial differencing practices on the predictive accuracy and computational efficiency of method of lines solution of discrete ordinates method were investigated on a 1-D test problem with anisotropically scattering medium by utilizing two-, three-, four-point upwind and four-, five-point biased upwind schemes and comparing predicted radiative heat fluxes with exact solutions available in the literature. Comparisons show that five-point biased upwind scheme produces accurate solutions in much less CPU time than the others and that four-point upwind scheme leads to instability.
