Résumé

A thermal diffusion cloud chamber under the non-Boussinesq approximation is considered. Trajectories and growth of droplets generated by the homogeneous condensation of vapour phase diluted in a background gas is studied numerically. The shift of droplets due to thermodiffusiophoresis as obtained from numerical predictions is compared with experimental data. The influence of forces acting on droplets in the conductive regime is shown. Then the buoyancy-induced convective motion under large temperature differences is taken into account through a 2D modelling of thermal diffusion cloud chamber. Drop trajectories are not linear any more but are rolled up while moving away from the centre of the cell.
