Résumé

By utilizing the excellent durability of dimethyl-polysiloxane [(CH3)2SiO]n as a promoter to the copper cooling surface, the process of condensation was observed microscopically. From the results, the relationships between the average diameters of contacted droplets and their numbers, the fraction of area covered with droplets and the heat transfer through a thin liquid film and the submicroscopic droplets, and also the formation of a certain critical thickness film before the minimum droplets appear and its part played in the dropwise condensation process, have been examined. Further the critical time of the thin film and the steam-side local heat transfer coefficient were calculated and compared with the experimental values.
