A MODEL FOR THE TRANSIENT REWETTING OF A BOILER TUBE
Résumé
In order to simulate the tube wall temperature excursions which can arise during transient rewetting, a model has been developed in which the rate of rewetting is controlled by the conduction of heat past the wetting front through the tube wall. The model is based upon a one-dimensional axial heat conduction model, which has been adapted to include an allowance for the effects of radial temperature variations and the extent and circumferential non-uniformity of the wetting front. By making use of perturbation theory the resulting model is analytic and computationally fast, and has been incorporated into the boiler program NUMEL.
