Résumé

The heat and mass transfer coefficients governing the operation of crossflow evaporative coolers were determined experimentally. The measured mass transfer coefficients were found to be lower than the values found by other investigators for counterflow evaporative coolers and condensers, while the film heat transfer coefficient was found to be higher than the coefficients found by them. The two phase pressure drop across the tube bundle was also measured and the recirculating water massflow rate was found to have a significant effect on the pressure drop across the tube bundle.
