Résumé

The paper presents an experimental study of the transient natural convection heat transfer between two large cylindrical reservoirs connected by a short horizontal cylindrical channel at half height. Three different diameters (10, 20 and 30 mm I.D.) with the same length (125 mm) have been studied. The experimental temperature field within the hot and cold tank and along the horizontal duct is reported as well as the derived heat transfer and flow rate through the duct. The overall heat transfer Nusselt number as a function of the Rayleigh number is presented.
