TRANSIENT BEHAVIOR OF A DOUBLE-CHANNEL NATURAL CIRCULATION LOOP FOLLOWING THE DISCONNECTION OF THE UNHEATED BYPASS CHANNEL

Résumé

The purpose of this study is to explore experimentally the transient behavior of a double-channel two-phase natural circulation loop following the closure of the unheated bypass channel. The apparatus employed in this study is a modified loop previously used in NTHU laboratory. The experimental results indicate that the disconnection of the unheated bypass channel has a significant effect on loop oscillation behavior. In general, when the unheated bypass channel is disconnected the high frequency oscillation during quasi-steady double-channel operation dampens out rapidly and a low frequency oscillation is established in the single-channel loop with a smaller magnitude. Five different effects due to disconnection of unheated bypass channel have been identified.
