Résumé

This paper reports direct numerical simulations of the Rayleigh-Bйnard convection in a fluid close to its gas-liquid critical point, for a Rayleigh number varying between 106 and 108. We consider a cubic box containing a generic supercritical fluid (SCF) and heated from below. Initially, the fluid is on its critical isochore, slightly above its critical temperature. A spatiotemporal description of the flow is carried out from the convection onset until the settlement of a statistically steady state of heat transfer. This description concerns the structure of the temperature field, the distribution of the Nusselt numbers on the horizontal walls, and the global thermal equilibrium of the cavity.
