Résumé

Condensation of humid air on plastic heat exchangers is reported in this study. Three plastic HXs (plate type - PHX, asymmetry bare tube type - BTHX, and uniform round tube type - RTHX) were tested and compared in this experiment. The BTHX is superior to RTHX and PHX for offering additional condensate splashing mode and the splashing feature is especially beneficial when operated at a larger cold side flow rate since the plateau of the heat transfer performance is moved toward larger cold side flow rate regime. The asymmetry tube geometry design (BTHX) shows even better heat transfer performance than the uniform tube bundle design (RTHX).
