Résumé

For most heat sources or objects that require cooling or temperature control, they have a flat thermo-contact surface. It's beneficial that the heat transfer devices have the same surface of the active zone as heat sources, to which is directly attached. Loop heat pipes (LHPs) are considered to be one of the most effective two-phase heat transfer devices. The evaporator structures of LHPs have many variants depending on working fluid used, heat source dimensions and shape. This paper mainly presents the development of loop heat pipes with a disk-shaped evaporator. Under the condition of the same level capacity of heat transfer, the disk-shaped evaporators possess some characteristics of simple design and easy fabrication. It's very useful to conclude the art-of-state of their performance of LHPs with a disk-shaped evaporator. The major work summarizes the evaporator materials and structure design, the fabrication of porous wick, different working fluid used, and operating performance on the ground tests. Otherwise, some theoretical work about simulations of heat transfer in the disk-shaped evaporator was also reported. In the last part of this paper, the pump-assisted loop heat pipe with the disk-shaped evaporator system will be introduced.
