要約

Equations of motion, heat and mass transfer for a liquid drop evaporating in a gas are developed. The evaporative cooling rate of water sprays is experimentally measured under varying conditions. Drop size distributions are measured by high speed photographic techniques. Using the volume-surface mean diameter, experimental values are compared to those predicted from simultaneously solving the motion and transfer equations numerically. An energy transfer coefficient for an evaporating spray is defined. In terms of this coefficient the experimental data is correlated with a Reynolds number, spray dimensions, and supply pressure.
