要約

Analytical and experimental results are presented for the transient collapse of a vapor layer between a heated surface and a bulk liquid in response to an increase in system pressure. Approximate analytical solutions based on an integral approach and numerical solutions of the governing partial differential equations are com;pared in terms of the transient vapor layer thickness and temperatures as well as the transient wall heat flux. The experimental system facilitated pressurization of a stable layer of water vapor from 1 to 2 atm. The initial vapor thickness was about 5 em, and the pressurization time varied from 1 to 30 sec. Comparisons of analytically and experimentally obtained vapor thicknesses and temperatures are given.
