AN EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY OF ENTRANCE FLOW OF NON-NEWTONIAN FLUIDS
要約
This paper discusses an experimental and analytical investigation of the entrance-region flow of viscous non-Newtonian fluids whose viscosity is temperature-dependent. The experimental results confirm that the coupled
boundary layer equations satisfactorily predict velocity profiles, pressure drops, and heat transfer coefficients. Only three parameters are found necessary to specify such flows. The paper also shows that variable-viscosity
effects can mask the non-Newtonian behavior of such fluids and that they can increase the length of the entrance region manyfold.
