要約

The buoyant jet is analyzed by introducing a vertical length scale defined by L = M0 ¾/F0½, where M0 is the rate at which momentum is added at the source and F0 is the rate at which buoyancy is added. The velocity and temperature centerline values are shown to collapse when plotted as UCLx−1 gγΔθ CL/ F0−½ x−1 versus x/L. Introduction of the scale L into the equations of motion shows the ratio x/L to directly control the buoyancy term, the pure momentum jet and pure buoyant plume equations corresponding to the limits x/L → 0 and ∞ respectively.
