要約

The natural convection in an infinite horizontal fluid layer with internal heat generation and a Prandtl number Pr=6 is investigated using the direct numerical simulation method. The results are in good agreement with experimental data. For moderate Rayleigh numbers counter-gradient heat fluxes have been found in the core of the flow. The predicted statistical data of turbulence show that first order models like the eddy conductivity and k-ε models cannot account for this phenomenon. Some additional results, especially for terms containing pressure fluctuations, are discussed for use in the calibration of second order statistical models which would be more appropriate to this flow than first order models.
