要約

As part of a research programme into the steam generation processes associated with the operation of AGR boilers experimental investigations were conducted into the thermal and flow aspects of serpentine geometry tubes at high pressures. The test section used comprised three horizontal passes, each electrically heated and of length 3.3m and bore 22mm. The range of conditions gtudied covered mass flux 400 to 1500 kg m−2s −1, steam quality −0.8 to 1.0 and heat flux up to 0.32MWm−2.
Heat transfer in the region of saturated boiling was found to be well represented by the Chen model. Over the range of conditions studied the discrepancy between measured and calculated wall temperatures had a mean value −0.1 °C and standard deviation 1.5 °C. A modified form of the Chen model was applied in the subcooled boiling region and was shown to agree well with experimental data. The discrepancy between the measured and calculated wall temperatures had a mean value 0.3 °C and standard deviation 1.8 °C. In contrast the subcooled boiling correlations of Thorn et al and of Jens and Lottes gave poor local agreement with experiment.
