要約

Previous analyses of periodic heat exchange between a solid body and a fluid were limited to a sinusoidal fluid-temperature variation and a constant heat-transfer coefficient. In many practical situations, however, two fluids contact the solid alternatively and the changeover time is comparatively short. Here it is more realistic to assume some assymmetric square wave for the fluid temperature and to characterize heating and cooling of the solid by two different film coefficients .
Since with the second assumption the general problem of a finite body with finite thermal conductivity can no more be solved by rigid analysis, a combined analytic-numerical approach is followed. This leads to closed-form solutions for extreme solid temperatures as well as storage capacity which are directly applicable to certain regenerator problems. Characteristic results are given for the slab but the approach is easily extended to other simple geometries.
