要約

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation into the heat transfer characteristics of a single row of closely-spaced, small diameter (4-6 mm) tubes in a cross-flowing air stream. A range of blockage ratios from 0.72 to 0.92 were studied. The flow Reynolds' numbers (based on the mainstream velocity prior to the tube row) ranged from 450 to 8500. For blockages <0.85 the average heat transfers are correlated in terms of the mean flow velocity through the tube bank. However for the more closely-spaced arrangements an empirical correction is proposed. The effects of blockage ratio and Reynolds' number on the local heat transfers are also examined.
