ANALYSIS OF HEAT TRANSFER BY NATURAL CONVECTION (OR FILM CONDENSATION) FOR THREE DIMENSIONAL FLOWS

An approximate method is developed for calculating the heat-transfer from surfaces of fairly general contour to three-dimensional flows driven by natural convection. Solutions to several problems are presented. Particular attention is focussed on the problem of heat transfer from a finite tilted circular cylinder.
The results of this study are extended to include predictions of heat transfer by film condensation to the same surfaces of general contour.
