要約

In the present work, the numerical solutions of conservation equations (mass, momentum and energy) have been obtained for a non-Newtonian fluid flowing through a circular duct and through a parallel channel. It is assumed that the non-Newtonian flow characteristic of a fluid can be expressed through a yield power law rheological relation and that the effects of temperature on the rheological parameters are negligible. The forward marching procedure of Patankar and Spalding [1970] has been used to obtain the numerical solutions. The results have been obtained for a wide range of power law exponents (n = 0.5−1.5), yield numbers (Y = 0 − 20) and Prandtl numbers (0.1 − 10). The solution of the energy equation has been obtained for two surface boundary conditions: (i) uniform surface temperature and (ii) uniform heat flux.
