Performance Evaluation of the Collapsed Dimension Method and the Discrete Transfer Method for Solving Radiative Transport Problems in 2-D Enclosures

Present work deals with the performance evaluation of the collapsed dimension method and the discrete transfer method in terms of computational time in solving radiative transfer problems in 2-D square enclosures with absorbing, emitting and scattering medium. For homogeneous and gray participating medium, tests have been performed for a wide range of extinction coefficients and scattering albedos. For the same level of accuracy, collapsed dimension method has been found economical.
