要約

The effects of a uniform rotation on a Germanium float zone were numerically investigated under 1-g and µ-g conditions. Results have shown that under the rotational effect, the Marangoni flow is pushed outwards and confined within a thin layer below the free surface. Its intensity and its volume have considerably been reduced with an increase of the rotational rate. It has also been observed that under 1-g, only a slight rotation rate would be sufficient to restore the symmetry of the flow field as that observed under µ-g condition. A correlation has been proposed to compute the fluid axial velocity on the free surface under µ-g condition and rotational effects.
