要約

Axial temperature and velocity measurements were made in water at various aspect ratios, Gr* and bottom-to- side heat flux ratios for turbulent free convection in a closed container. Measured temperature profiles correlate satisfactorily with available semi-empirical predictions with combined bottom and side heating. Vith side heating only predicted profiles vary significantly from experimental measurements for Gr* > 5×1013. Results indicate that a significant fraction of the side wall heating is transferred to the bulk liquid. The mechanism of this turbulent diffusion appears to be governed by the amount of bottom heating, aspect ratio and Gr*.
