要約

The present study consists of two main parts. One is the exploration of new heat transfer performance measuring technique and the other is its application to a systematic study on heat transfer performance of pin-fin exchanger cores which are composed of a large number of very thin wires. The experimental technique for evaluating the performance of heat transfer surfaces is based on the transient method where the inlet temperature of the exchanger core is varied with first-order response. A systematic measurements are conducted for heat transfer and friction loss performance of pin-fin surfaces varying geometrical properties such as pin diameter and transverse and longitudinal pitch for in-line arrangement of the array. The test results show that the heat transfer performance (for example heat transfer per unit core volume and unit temperature difference for given friction loss power) of pin fins is surprisingly good.
