NUMERICAL STUDY OF NATURAL CONVECTION IN PARTITIONED 2-DIMENSIONAL ENCLOSURES AT TRANSITIONAL RAYLEIGH NUMBERS
要約
The flow pattern and temperature field in side-heated rectangular enclosures, with downward-extending adiabatic vertical partitions, at Rayleigh numbers 1010 to 1012 were studied numerically, using an algebraic model of turbulent heat transport. The considered geometry simulates neighbouring building rooms with a doorway in between. The computations confirmed earlier findings that noticeable improvement in capturing details of turbulence field at transitional Rayleigh numbers is achieved with an algebraic model for turbulent heat transport θut derived from the parent differential transport equation, as compared with simple eddy diffusivity hypothesis. The algebraic flux expression was closed with a low-Re-number k — ε — θ2 — εθ model. The paper presents some results for the mean flow and turbulence field in several cases of undivided and partitioned enclosures at transitional Ra numbers.
