The WCOBRA/TRAC-MOD7A, Rev. 1 code is currently licensed for best estimate large break LOCA analyses of 3 and 4 loop PWRs. As a part of the licensing effort to extend the code applicability to an upper plenum injection (UP1) plant, the code's ability to predict UPI water delivery behavior is investigated by analyses of CCTF tests Run 76 and Run 72. The computer predicted results obtained with WCOBRA/TRAC are compared with the test data for cladding temperature, quench front, void fractions in the bundle and the upper plenum, flooding at the upper core plate, and hot leg liquid and vapor flow rates. Finally, the predicted liquid levels in the upper plenum for Run 72 are compared with the predicted levels for Run 76 to investigate the consequences of modeling asymmetric safety injection in the upper plenum.
