要約

It is difficult to quantify the heat generation rate of a small magnetic sphere heated inductively and the resulting temperature distribution around it. There is no conventional method that directly measures the temperature distributions around the heated sphere. This study presents a novel method utilizing the temperature dependence of the absorbance of water at a wavelength of 1150 nm. When a 1 mm diameter steel sphere in water is heated by a 780 kHz magnetic field, absorbance images at this wavelength are acquired by using a near-infrared imaging system. The obtained images show increases in the absorbance with circularly symmetric distributions, which indicates spherically symmetric distributions of the absorption coefficient proportional to the temperature. Radial distribution of temperature thus can be reconstructed by applying the inverse Abel transform to a onedimensional absorbance profile extracted from the absorbance image. The reconstructed temperature profiles clearly show temperature increases by thermal conduction from the heated sphere.
