要約

In this paper, we identify the influence of surface charge on the freezing behavior of water, therefore providing the possibility of applying electric field to control the freezing process. Using the molecular dynamics simulation method, we construct an unconfined system of water molecules with surface charges at the wall to simulate the early stage of water freezing process. The SPC/E water model is used to investigate the structural and dynamic properties of water molecules during their freezing process. Through the ring structure analysis and the hydrogen bond statistics, we observe that a suppression of the hydrogen bond structure near the charged wall extends 1nm into the water. The orientational distribution and dynamics also reveals the ability of surface charges to alter and disorganize water molecule dipoles. This observation is based on freezing behavior in unconfined water space, it demonstrates the capability of water freezing suppression.
