Resumo

A digital computer method of simulating the phenomenon of dropwise condensation was developed. At first, the entire process of condensation was simulated and a relation between the heat transfer coefficient and the number density of nucleation sites was obtained. But, as it was found out that the capacity of digital computers available at present limited the further extension of this procedure, so the attention was turned to the process of drop growth by coalescence. The analysis utilizing both the computer simulation and the results of the experimental observations revealed a significant characteristic of the growth process, which seems to promise the possibility of the use of this method in future.
