Resumo

Heat transfer and power expenditure results have been obtained for an agitated vessel equipped with bare tube, low finned-tube, and medium finned-tube, vertical tube baffles. The mixing vessel was 45.7 cm (18 in.) in diameter, filled to a fluid depth of 91.4 cm (36 in.), and contained four vertical tube baffles. Agitation was provided by a dual impeller, 15.2 cm (6 in.) diameter, six-blade, flat blade turbine. Both heating and cooling data were obtained using water, ethylene glycol, Mobil-therm 600, and Gulf Harmony 151, as test fluids. Heat transfer and power expenditure correlations, extending over a mixing Reynolds number range from 55 to 200,000 were developed and compared with available data in the literature.
