Numerical Simulation of Droplet Dynamics with Heat Transfer

Resumo

This study is motivated by the development of a miniaturized thermal management system utilizing dropwise phase change to provide improved heat transfer capabilities. To gain insight into the physics of the key transport mechanisms, direct numerical simulation is conducted to investigate the dynamics and associated heat transfer of a droplet impinging on a constant temperature flat surface. The numerical results show high heat transfer rates during the early stage of impingement, especially around the contact line, as well as the recoil characteristics.
