Resumo

The use of a sustainable small-scale vapor explosion was proposed for an innovative rapid cooling and liquid atomizing process, namely, the CANOPUS method. Superlative cooling and atomization performance was achieved upon vapor explosion surrounded by sufficient volume and subcooling of a coolant following the suppression of stable vapor film. On the basis of the CANOPUS method, a highly viscous coal gasification slug was atomized into 30 µm powder which could be used as raw material for cement. The cooling rate of Al-Si was 1.5·108 K/s, which is over 280 times higher than in the method employed up to now.
