Resumo

New results for the boiling curves with water jets are presented in this paper. An apparatus was built to study the boiling heat transfer from a hot plate to a planar jet of water, under steady-state conditions. The temperature controlled regulation allows the local determination of boiling regimes from forced convection to film boiling. By solving the two dimensional inverse heat conduction problem, the local heat flux and corresponding temperature can be computed. Measurements show important differences between boiling curves at the stagnation line and in the parallel flow region. At the stagnation line, the transition boiling regime is characterized by very high heat fluxes, and extended over a wide temperature range. Boiling regimes can be characterized from temperature signals measurements.
