Resumo

Experiments are described on the heat transfer through the turbulent boundary layer on a heated flat plate to an air stream flowing in converging, parallel and diverging passages. Heating of the plate could be started at different distances from the leading edge. Wall shear stress measurements were also carried out using a calibrated surface tube. Air velocities up to 200ft/sec. were used and the passage area change was approximately from 0.5 ft2 to 1 ft2 over 3.5 ft. The results are compared with a theoretical solution published elsewhere and agree well for the converging and parallel passages but not so well for the diverging passage.
