UNSTEADY FREE CONVECTION FROM A LARGE HORIZONTAL SURFACE
Resumo
The paper presents the results of
a theoretical and experimental analysis
of unsteady laminar boundary layer free
convection from a horizontal surface for
the asymptotic situation when leading
edge effects are negligible. The
theoretical analysis leads to the solution
of the resulting linearized problem
for arbitrary temporal variations
in the surface temperature gradient.
Velocity and temperature profiles are
presented. Selected theoretical temperature
profiles are compared with those
obtained experimentally for water and
glycerine.
