EXACT SOLUTION TO THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL APPROACH OF THE REWETTING BY A FALLING FILM

Resumo

We present the exact analytical solution to the problem of the steady propagation of the quench front in the rewetting of a hot vertical slab. The solution yields the temperature distributions, in the dry and in the wet portion of the slab respectively, as series the coefficients of which are infinite products. As, in particular, the dimensionless sputtering temperature is expressed in terms of an infinite product, we give also a formula which, for N suitably large, approximates the product of all the factors successive to the N-th. All this allows a very high degree of approximation in the evaluation of the sputtering temperature and, at the same time, a very significant saving of computer time with respect to the previous merely numerical procedures.
