Resumo

The equations of vorticity and energy are numerically solved by a finite difference method for the laminar flow through a two-dimensional abrupt asymmetrical channel enlargement and constriction. Additionally local mass transfer experiments were conducted in the range of Reynolds number 8 < Re < 1000 applying the method of naphthalene sublimation in air. The corresponding Schmidt number, Sc, is Sc = 2.5. The present experimental and theoretical results exhibit a good agreement. Furthermore the experimental data of other authors concerning the velocity field or the size of the recirculation region can be verified with good accuracy.
