Resumo

Combined convection and radiation in simultaneously developing laminar flow and heat transfer in internally finned tubes is simulated numerically. The working fluid is a non-gray mixture consisting of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and nitrogen. The fundamental conservation equations are solved by a finite difference technique. The P-l approximation was used to solve the radiative transfer equation. The exponential wide band model was adopted to obtain the mixture absorption coefficient. The bulk mean temperature and Nusselt number variation along the tube axis and temperature profiles are shown for a uniform inlet temperature and constant wall temperatures. The effects of the number of fins and fin height on the heat transfer characteristics are investigated.
