Resumo

An experimental and theoretical investigation was made into the absorption of carbon dioxide from concurrently flowing C02-laden air into thin water film in a horizontal duct. We propose three physical models, CAL1 ~ CAL3, to explain mass transfer across a sheared non-wavy and wavy air-water interface. If both air and water flow are laminar the laminar flow model, CAL1, satisfactorily agreed with experimental data. Even if two-dimensional wave generated, the liquid film was laminar. In this case CAL2 was useful. In the case of strongly sheared air flow the turbulence should be taken into consideration even if the liquid film Reynolds number was small. In this case the estimations by CAL3 agreed well with the experimental data.
