Resumo

Experimental investigation of heat transfer performance of an array of vertical rectangular fins perpendicularly upwards from a high temperature horizontal base under the condition of natural convection has been carried out. The effect of fin geometrical size to flow and to heat transfer is discussed by means of analyzing the experimental results. In the light of the physical characteristic of heat transfer process of the fin array, and according to the method of dimensional analysis, a non-dimensional equation of calculating heat transfer coefficient of fins is obtained, which can be used to predict the average heat transfer coefficient. And a BorlandC++ computer program is composed to optimize the fin array geometrical size.
