3-D Investigation of Thermal-Structure Analysis in a Kidney During Cold Perfusion
Resumo
This paper is dedicated to present a comprehensive investigation on the thermal effect of organs during initial flush perfusion before organ cold storage. A 3-D numerical simulation by taking full use of the anatomical CAD model of vascular tree was developed to accurately simulate the temperature variation process. The temperature field of kidney during perfusion is profoundly heterogeneous at multiple spatial scales due to the asymmetric branching of the intramural vascular tree. Based on the heterogeneous temperature field, the time evolution of corresponding thermal stress and strain was obtained by Ansys Workbench. The results indicated that the thermal effects of large blood vessels could remarkably affect the temperature distribution of the organ during hypothermic perfusion. This method of simulation can reveal the rationale for pursuing hypothermic perfusion from bio-heat transfer.
