Resumo

A novel large-scale system for high-temperature and high-pressure spray flash evaporation of water is designed and built. Consisting of the heating section, the flashing section, the water supplement section and the data acquisition section, this system is characterized by effective utilization of industrial waste heat, automatic control of pressure and water level, continuous operation under high-parameter conditions, applicability in industrial contexts etc. Experimental performance of the system is evaluated by varying the initial liquid temperature, the evaporation pressure and the nozzle size. The amount of vapor generated by flashing is found to increase with increasing initial temperature and decrease with elevating chamber pressure. Nozzle size affects flash evaporation by two competing mechanisms: the fineness of spray and the residence time of it. Comparing with previous studies, this system raises the level of operation parameters to a higher extent and expands the range of experimental study on flashing.
