Аннотация

The object of this paper is to present and discuss the experimental data obtained for the transfer of heat under film boiling conditions from flat surfaces at various orientations. The test fluid for all cases was nitrogen. The boiling surfaces were electrically heated Inconel plates. Film boiling performance has been obtained for a heated flat surface oriented with respect to its longitudinal axis at 0°, 15°, 30°, and 45° from the horizontal with the heater surface facing downward and at 0°, 30°, and 60° from the horizontal with the heater surface facing upward, as well as with the heater surface at 90° (vertical). The resulting uncertainty in the heat transfer coefficient is estimated at ± 12 percent.
