Аннотация

Hot wire anemometry has been used to measure velocity and turbulence distributions at the exit of a slot jet as well as at several distances from it. The evolution of the jet flow, entering into stagnant air, has been investigated to determine the structure of the potential core and the developed region. The interest in the physical understanding of the jet evolution has promoted the present study. A visualization technique has been used and the results compared to the hot wire anemometry measurements. The length of the potential core has been visualized using a shadowgraph visualization technique. This technique has been used because of its simple setup, which does not require special accuracy in the optics. Further on, it has been employed because of the kind of information to be searched, which consists, essentially, in the evolution of the potential core of the air jet entering into stagnant air. The visualization has shown interesting aspects of the air jet as compared to the actual knowledge of jet flow.
