Аннотация

These heat exchangers were by electro-erosion formed cubical blocks with a volume of 1.06 dm3. This fabrication process can be used on all metals.
Deep, small-diameter holes were obtained using a special system of rotating electrodes. Three duralumin exchangers embodying rectangular and triangular holes were steam-heated and tested in a compressed-air wind tunnel. The heat flow rate reached 8000 kcal/hr per dm3.
The author describes the test rig and submits friction and heat transfer data. Some indications are also given as to how the results could be applied to the design of a multi-pass unit.
