Аннотация

Recent progress in the development and use of the transient single blow heat transfer test technique is reported. A new test rig and semi-automatic test evaluation technique has been developed and new theoretical computer-based solutions of the single blow process, needed to evaluate test results, have been obtained. These solutions include the effects of conduction in both the solid and fluid and have been used to model the single blow process in passages more closely than in any previous work. The significant effect of normal conduction in the solid on the accuracy of the results is demonstrated and measurements obtained over a flow range from laminar through transition to turbulent flow. Satisfactory comparison with previous work has been made in all three regimes and the significant effect of inlet flow disturbance, in the form of inlet flow area contraction, on the critical Reynolds number and transitional flow heat transfer levels is revealed.
