Average and local heat transfer coefficients for single horizontal tubes were measured. Measurements were obtained up to 32 bar pressure and 1.5 m/s superficial velocity at ambient temperature. The bed material was sand with average diameters of 0.28, 0.89 and 2.83 mm. The effect of pressure, fluidizing velocity and particle size were examined. The reactor used for the experiment was 0.309 m in diameter and 3.5 m high. The results were compared with some commonly used correlations for heat transfer found in the literature.
