POOL BOILING FROM A ROTATING SPHERE IN FREON 113
Аннотация
Boiling heat transfer results were obtained from a rotating sphere in Freon 113. A transient quench technique was used with a 5.08-cm-dia. steel sphere, which was heated to an elevated temperature prior to immersion in the Freon bath. Rotational speeds of 3,000, 5,000, 7,000, and 10,000 rpm were studied along with the static case. In addition to the saturated liquid state (46°C), various subcooling levels were also studied at bath temperatures of 12, 22, and 32°C. A sphere removal and reinsertion technique was developed as a substitute for continuous temperature reading technique such as slip rings. Results showed that there was some improvement in the heat transfer rate with increasing rotational speed. However, a considerably larger effect was noted with increased subcooling.
