Аннотация

Two dimensional natural convective flow in a square enclosure that is partly heated on the bottom surface and cooled on the top surface, has been studied numerically. The enclosure is partly filled with a fluid and partly filled with a porous medium, separated by an impermeable partition. The governing equations were solved using a finite element method. Results have been obtained for a Rayleigh number range of 103 ≤ Ra ≤ 3×l05, and Darcy numbers of Da = 10−4, 10−3 and for a Prandtl number of Pr = 0.7. The results show the effect of partial heating and the effect of the thickness of the porous layer on the overall heat transfer rate and flow patterns.
